Club Championship Race
Report: Lynsey Hamer

SXPics After torrential rain on Saturday night it was surprising that anyone turned up on Sunday morning, but over 160 riders thought Finningley was worth the drive after the rain. They were pleasantly surprised to see Finningley looking fine for racing. Credit must go to Ed Bradley and his team who have made various changes to the track, such as putting in tonnes of sand and widening the first corner. The changes allowed it to take the rain, soak it up and look good for the daring riders who braved the track. Strangely after the rain the day ended in blazing sunshine! Out first today went the Adult Experts A’s. They soon soaked the excess water off the track with some hard and fast racing as always. Daniel Hiorns took two of three race wins, having to keep the pace to the maximum to stay ahead of the chasing pack. In third place, although he couldn’t equal his first race finish, came Adam Reynolds. Chris Hamlett improved his places all day and a fantastic race in the third moto brought him into fourth overall. In fifth overall, even after a disasterous first race came Lee Harrison, just ahead of Will Foster in sixth. Next out went the Intermediate B adults. As always, a big gate lined up. Two out of three race wins saw James Nottingham take the overall win in style. Jarad Lamb won the first race, but couldn’t get past Nottingham again, and finished overall second on the day. Tom Bedford took overall third on the day after improving his first race finish to take two second place finishes. Alex Burns improved on his second race finish to take overall fourth just ahead of Stuart Danby who (unusually for him) finished in fifth. In sixth overall came Bradley Walker who consistently rode well each race. Out next went a big gate of Youth 125 riders hit the track. Out in front early, and keeping the lead for all three races was Craig Maddock. The top three riders stayed in the same positions all day, but not for lack of trying, and finished overall Maddock first, Ryan Sumner in second and Brad Harrison in third. Sumner and Harrison chased all day, but Maddock just upped the pace and flew round the track. Sumner did well to keep in front of Harrison and finished in second overall, leaving Harrison in third. Next came Jake Whitby who, although his last race finish was poor, had done enough to take fourth overall. In fifth overall after improving his performance each moto came Darryl Tate. In sixth overall came Lesa Dranfield who rode consistently and gained an impressive sixth place each race. Next up were the Novice C adults. Again a full gate hit the track with Steven Hurst out at the front. It was to stay like that all day, with Hurst taking three race wins and the overall first place. With excellent riding in all three races newly upgraded rider Matthew Colwill took overall second. Coming back from a poor finish in race two, Ben Williams had an excellent last race and took overall third. In fourth overall was Sam Crampton, who had an excellent second place finish in the second race. Fifth overall was Johnathan Knowles, who improved his performance each race, and in sixth came Warren Robey who rode consistently well in a hard group. Today was Robey’s first ride back following a debilitating illness which had seen him hospitalised since November 2007. Robey took Rider of The Day for his excellent performance. Up next went the Big Wheel 85s. Again a big group, with some extremely competitive riding. Jordan Wills had the edge, and took the first overall with some excellent riding, and two out of three race wins, just ahead of Stacey Fisher. Fisher took the first race win, but couldn’t get past Wills again. Adam Extance rode well all day, and kept the pace with the front two, and took overall third. Brett Sanderson took fourth overall, after an excellent final race pulled him right up the points. Next in was Cole Hunter, who suffered mechanical failure in the first race, but still managed to finish. He never recovered the points lost, and finished fifth overall, just ahead of Lewis Riley. Riley recovered well from a poor finish in the second race to take overall sixth. Next came a big group of Small Wheel 85s. Chubbie Hammond took the early lead, and kept it all day. He did some excellent racing, and earned his overall first place with maximum points for all three race wins. He didn’t have it easy, with second place Luke Coburn chasing hard all day. In overall third just behind Coburn (where he finished each race) was Macauley Maddom. Chelsea Gowland suffered in the second race, but made up for it with a great ride in the last moto to take overall fourth. Aaron Tallentire improved his racing all day to take overall fifth. Sixth overall was Robbie Dowson. Dowson tied on points with Jason James, but took sixth due to his better last race finish, leaving James in seventh. Up came the Junior 65s next, and they were another big group, and also had to be satisfied with a shortened track, as the Clerks considered the majority of these little riders would struggle with the deeper ruts at the back of the track. The overall first went to Will Keogh. After taking the first race win Keogh flipped it on the start of the second, but was soon up and running. He also took the third race win, and enough points to take first. Next came Eddie Remmer took the second race win, but lost it on the last race and finished in second overall. Third overall went to Jake Biggs, well deserved after a massive off in the second race saw him ride like a demon to catch the riders who passed him whilst he was down. Fourth overall, with some excellent consistent riding went to Jamie Osborne. Tied on points for fifth place were Alex Hamer and George Johnson. After riding extremely well after coming back recently from a broken arm and elbow, Hamer did just enough in the last race to finish ahead of George Johnson, leaving Hamer in fifth and Johnson sixth. Last out today went the Auto riders – those brave enough to ride the deep wet sand of Finningley. With over 20 riders signed on, only 14 were confident enough to try and ride it, but ride it they did, and very well too. It was hard going but some excellent racing was seen today with these young riders. In overall first even after a poor finish in the last race was Daniel Shepherd. He really earned that first place trophy today! In second overall, but only just after winning the second race again with some hard racing was Oliver Consterdine. Third overall was Jake Winnard. Winnard upped his pace all day and took the last race win, and deserved third. George Atkinson came back from a poor second race extremely well to take second place in the last race, and with it overall fourth. Tied on points for fifth place were Aaron Stewart and Ben Burridge. Both rode very well all day, but Stewart had the edge in the last two races, so took overall fifth leaving Burridge in sixth overall. Overalls: Autos: 1. Daniel Shepherd 2. Oliver Consterdine 3. Jake Winnard 4. George Atkinson 5. Aaron Stewart 6. Ben Burridge Jnr 65: 1. Will Keogh 2. Eddie Remmer 3. Jake Biggs 4. Jamie Osborne 5. Alex Hamer 6. George Johnson

Racing MXC (ORPA) Round
7 Club Championship Race
Report: Lynsey Hamer
Joe Jones – winner of the
Youth 125 class – courtesy of SXPics Another day in the sunshine for 90 Racing MXC was held at Finningley on August 3rd. Over 220 riders again turned out to enjoy the family friendly atmosphere and participate in an excellent days racing. Ed Bradley at Finningley had prepared the track perfectly, putting plenty of water on to keep the dust down, and the track stood up well to the demands put on it by some very hard racing. Thanks to all riders, marshals, helpers and special thanks go to the very hard working lap scorers! Out first went the Auto pilots. A big gate of Autos hit the track and rode it well. There was close racing all day in this group with the front few changing positions each race. Albie Wilkie won the first two races and took overall first, but he had to fight for it with Brandon Sharples. Sharples took the last moto, but it wasn’t enough to catch Wilkie, who rode with style and left Sharples in second overall. Oliver Consterdine and Jake Winnard were just behind those two, with Consterdine just having the advantage in the last two races to take overall third with Winnard in fourth overall. Lewis Taylor rode consistently to take overall fifth with George Atkinson improving all day to take overall sixth. Next out went the Junior 65s. Eddie Remmer took the first race and Callum Whaling the second so the top spot was resting on the last moto. Remmer went out and rode like a demon in the last race to take the win, and the overall first with Whaling in second. It was all change in the top six all day, but with the most consistent performance in overall third was Keenan Hird. Overall fourth was Jake Biggs, just ahead of Johnathan Hughes in fifth. Sixth overall was Sheldon Fox, tied on points with seventh, but took sixth due to an excellent last race finish. Out next went a big gate of Small Wheels. Jack Weaver looked odds on for the overall, taking the first two race wins, but mechanical failure in the last race dropped him into tenth. This left the way clear for Ben Halfpenny who rode consistently well all day to take overall first, with Joe Russell in second overall. Sam Norris also rode well to take overall third. Micheal Wall’s fantastic last race was enough to pull him into overall fourth, with Danny Wright in fifth. Jason James improved his performance all day to take overall sixth. Next up were the Big Wheels. These changed places all day, but most consistent was Lewis Riley. His steady performance won him overall first. Brett Sanderson won the last race, which was enough to give him overall second, tied on points with Patrick Major in third overall. Thomas Kirk won the first race, but couldn’t keep up the pace in the next two motos and finished overall fourth. Cole Hunter won the second race but couldn’t pull the points back after a poor first race, and finished overall fifth. Dillon Polson also rode well to take sixth. Next out went a full gate of Novice C riders. Two out of three moto wins was enough to give Ben Williams the overall first. Chris Dickenson had three excellent races to take second overall. Johnathan Knowles won the last race in style, which pulled him into overall third. Thomas Whittle and Sam Obheir tied on points, but Whittle took overall fourth (even after a disastrous last race) leaving Obheir in fifth. Ross McGregor also had a terrible last race which dropped him into sixth overall. Up next went the Youth 125’s. Joe Jones hit the track in the lead, and kept it all day with an awesome display of racing ability. All three motos gave him the maximum points and overall first. Michael Hughes rode consistently well to take overall second, just ahead of Luke Capsticks whose excellent finish in the last two races pulled him up into third overall. Craig Maddock recovered well from a mechanical failure in the first race. Second in the last race was enough to give him overall fourth. Adam Marsden was rider of the day with all three holeshots, and he finished tied on points in overall fifth, with Luke Crowther just behind them in overall sixth. Out next went the Adult Intermediate B class with another full line up. Danny Greensmith rode three excellent races in a hard group to take overall first with two out of three race wins. Callum Cree took the second race win and finished overall second. Liam Eddleston also rode well in all motos to take overall third. Finishing fourth overall with consistent riding was Danny Haswell mainly due to a fantastic second race finish. Again due to consistent riding Darren Appleyard rode steadily all day to take overall fifth. Overall sixth after a disastrous second race was Ryan Bruce, pulled up in the points by second place in the last race. Last out today went the Adult Expert A class, and again a very high standard was seen. Overall first after winning the second race was Richard Cannings, who showed superb riding skills to stay at the front of the Expert class. Second overall, with high places in each race was Wayne |Barker. Third overall again showing an excellent standard of riding to take two race wins, but was let down by a disastrous second race was James Lassu. Will Foster again rode consistently each race to take overall fourth. Let down by his second race, but pulled up the points by the other two motos was Lee Harrison, who finished overall fifth, just ahead of Chris Hamlet in sixth overall after a fantastic last race. Club Championship Race
Report: Lynsey Hamer
Rob Hields winner of Inter B
class – courtesy of SXPics After a week of constant rain the expectation would be that Caistor, an awesome track set in a natural valley, would be awash with rain, but that was not to be. Sunshine and showers on Saturday left the track, with a little help from track owner Mark Reville, in perfect condition for racing on. It was just as well it was so good, because over 180 riders turned out for the meeting, and the track took some hard riding. Thanks to Mark and his team the track stood up perfectly, and ended the day a little dusty, but still in great condition. Racing took place in blazing sunshine in the hills of Lincolnshire, and it was all round a great day. Out first went the Auto pilots. Straight to the front went Christopher Mills, and stayed there all day taking all three race wins with ease, and deserving of the name maximum man. In second overall with some excellent battling with Jake Winnard in the last two races, was Daniel Shepherd. Oliver Consterdine, not long out back from a broken arm, rode hard all day to take overall third, just in front of Jake Taylor. Thomas Holgate and Aaron Stewart were also competing hard all day, but Holgate had the edge in the last race and took fifth overall, leaving Stewart in sixth. Best wishes to Ben Ruddick who crashed in the first moto and dislocated his shoulder. Next out went the Junior 65s. Callum Whaling hit the track in the lead, and kept it all day. All three race wins for Whaling, but he was closely followed by Zac Judd, who did his utmost to catch him but couldn’t keep up. Eddie Remmer had an excellent last race which pulled him up into third overall. Jake Biggs and Will Keogh rode hard and fast all day and ended tied on points. Biggs had the better last race so took fourth overall. Keogh dropped into fifth due to a terrible last race, just in front of Ryan Donaghy in sixth. Out next went the Small Wheels and Jack Weaver rode Caistor like a dream. He was first out the gate and first to finish in all three races, and really showed his dominance on the day. In second place, just back from a broken collarbone, was Michael Wall. He rode excellently all day, and stayed just in front of Jason James in the last race to take overall second, leaving James in overall third. After a promising start which saw him take second in the first moto Andrew Flatman couldn’t quite get back up there and finished overall fourth, just ahead of Jack Hills in fifth. Tom Carlton rode consistently well all day to take sixth. Next up were the Big Wheels. Cole Hunter was the clear winner again on the big hills of Caistor, taking the lead early and keeping it. Lewis Riley rode hard all day and kept in front of Ian McEwan in the third moto to take overall second, leaving McEwan in third. Stacey Fisher rode a fantastic last race to pull her up the points into overall fourth, just ahead of Adam Extance in fifth. Jack Stocks took second in the second race, but dropped in the last to finish overall sixth. Next out went a full gate of Novice C riders. Warren Platt took the first two motos and looked a sure thing for the top spot, but a mistake in the last race left the way clear for Sverrir Olgierrson to take the last moto and the overall first place, leaving Platt in second overall. Sam Crampton and Ross McGregor battled all day but McGregors poor last race wasn’t enough to let McGregor catch him overall, with Crampton finishing third overall and McGregor fourth. Damien Dixon and Chris Trott also rode hard all day in a packed line up. Dixon took second in the last moto and ended fifth overall with Trott in sixth. Up next went the Youth 125’s. Brad Harrison and Ryan Sumner, as every meeting, again had their usual track confrontation. Harrison looked to have the advantage after winning the first two races, but Sumner came through in the last, and they tied on points again. Sumner took the win in the last so took overall first with Harrison in second. Darryl Tate had an excellent last race which saw him take second, and pulled him into overall third. Matthew Colwill rode consistently well to take overall fourth. Ashley Collins and Dale Wootton were battling on the track, with Wootton’s last race giving him the advantage overall, finishing Wootton in fifth and Collins in overall sixth. Luke Crowther was unlucky, as after two high placed motos he was out front in the last race when his back calliper seized on and he was unable to finish the race, taking him right down the points. Out next went the Adult Intermediate B class with another full line up. Rob Hields slight dip in the last race couldn’t keep him from overall first after winning the first two motos. David Durose was right behind him all day to take overall second. Taking the last race win, and pulling him into overall third was Will Nicholls with some excellent riding in the last moto. Liam Eddleston rode consistently well all day to take overall fourth. Track owner Mark Reville took overall fifth, with Mike Thompson being let down by a poor last race in overall sixth. Last out today went the Adult Expert A class, and what a
high standard was seen today! Clear
winner with some awesome riding was James Lassu, taking all three race wins in
style. Patrick Gilboy chased hard
all day but couldn’t catch Lassu and finished second.
Luke Remmer, definitely at a disadvantage on a 250f on the Caistor
uphills, rode excellently each race and took overall third.
Will Foster had a terrible first race but came back very well to finish
overall fourth just ahead of Richard Cannings in fifth.
Brad Mercer had a poor last race but still finished placed in sixth. Another excellent days racing by all and the club would like to thank all riders, helpers and marshals yet again for making the day go so well. Overalls: Autos: 1. Christopher Mills 2. Daniel Shepherd 3. Oliver Consterdine 4. Jake Taylor 5. Thomas Holgate 6. Aaron Stewart Jnr 65: 1. Callum Whaling 2. Zac Judd 3. Eddie Remmer 4. Jake Biggs 5. Will Keogh 6. Ryan Donaghy

SXPics 90 Racing went to another new venue for round 5 Club Champs. Peacock Hay is set on the side of a hill in the Staffordshire countryside. With the start of the day warm but overcast racing was soon underway early. Almost 170 riders turned out and big youth classes were the order of the day, especially in the Autos, who lined up for Round One of the Auto Dominator 2008. With the track looking rough the Adults were sent out first to dry any residual dampness left from a week of rain, and by dinner it was dusty, even after a little downpour early on, which then turned to blazing sunshine. It was the Adults turn to ride first, and out first went the Novice C class. Ben Williams showed his usual form to take the first race win, but couldn’t holdoff Sam Crampton in the next two, leaving Crampton to take the overall top spot, with Williams second. Kyle Maxwell as always rode consistently well to take overall third. Dave Thomas rode an excellent last race, pulling himself into fourth overall, just ahead of Phil Ridley in fifth. In sixth overall just back from injury was Craig Harman. Next out went the Youth 125’s. Some excellent riding by Craig Maddock saw him take the first two motos, but Ryan Sumner chased him hard and it was Sumner who took the last race. It wasn’t quite enough to take the overall from Maddock, who placed first with Sumner in second overall. Daniel Woodward had three excellent races to take overall third. In fourth overall was Ashley Collins just ahead of Dale Wootton. Wootton finished fifth overall after being let down by his second race finish, with Ryan Petfield in sixth overall. Out next went the Adult A & B groups. Riding together they made for excellent watching. In the Inter B class The first two wins went to Daniel Hope, but a DNF in the last saw him drop down the results. It left the way clear for Tom Boggett to take overall first place without winning a race! Second overall with some fantastic riding in the last moto was Gary Potts, just ahead of Aaron Bruce in third. Martin Sumner rode three steady races to take overall fourth just ahead of Mike Thompson in fifth. Ian Teasdale rode an excellent last race to pull him into overall sixth. Next up went a gate of twenty seven Autos. These little 50’s went all out on the track, which was long and tiring for them. The first two races were won in a superb fashion by Brandon Sharples, and although Albie Wilkie came through to take the last race win, it wasn’t enough to take the overall top place from Sharples. Wilkie took second overall, just ahead of Elliott Wood in third. Daniel Shepherd rode in a consistent manner to take overall fourth, with Jake Winnard again showing his progress to take overall fifth, in front of Christopher Mills, whose accident in the second race dropped him to an unusual sixth overall. Rider of the day was little Albie Wilkie, who took second overall on the day, and also got a huge Riders Award to go with it! Out next went the biggest group of the day, the Junior 65’s. Will Keogh showed his usual skill to take all three race wins and another overall first. Tom Hume rode three excellent races and took overall second. Eddie Remmer’s last race finish was enough to pull him back into overall third after a poor second race. Lewis Edwards had his highest placed finish in the second race, with a fantastic second. It was enough to give him his best overall finish also, taking fourth. Jake Biggs and Keenan Hird were battling all day, with Biggs having the advantage overall in fifth, leaving Hird in sixth. Next out went the Small Wheel 85s. Again a big gate, Luke Bull got out first, and stayed there all day to take all three motos in style. Joe Russell took two second place finishes but a DNF in the first saw him unable to get back up the points. Ben Halfpenny took overall second with flair, although chased hard by Bradley Bramall in third overall. Fourth went to Jason James, let down by a poor last race, but James did just enough to keep him in front of Lauren Collinwood in fifth overall. Warwick Gibbs rode very consistently to take a deserved overall sixth. Last out went the Big Wheel 85s. Again a big gate, there was again a very high standard from all riders. Stacey Fisher rode excellently all to take overall first. However, she didn’t have it all her own way, with Adam Extance taking the last moto win, and enough points to take him into second overall. Cole Hunter had a disastrous last race that saw him drop to overall third. Ashley Smith rode a fantastic last race also, and pulled through in overall fourth. Lewis Riley and Brett Sanderson also battled all day, with Riley just having the upper hand in fifth and Sanderson in overall sixth. Overalls: Autos: 1. Brandon Sharples 2. Elbie Wilkie 3. Pics – www.sxpics.co.uk As the first club to ride at the newly created track of TJs MX Park, we were unsure of what to expect. With a massive turnout again over 220 riders didn’t feel the same concerns. In the blazing sunshine the track turned out to be excellent – it was fast, safe and didn’t throw out any dust – even with so many riders hammering round it all day. Many thanks to Tony for a perfectly prepared track. He was out there all day Saturday, and from 3:30am Sunday morning and it showed. Out first again went a big line up of Autos. Yet again Christopher Mills showed his domination of the Auto class with maximum race points from all 3 unchallenged wins. Ben Ruddick and Daniel Shepherd chased Mills hard, but couldn’t catch him. Shepherd took second overall, with Ruddick in third. Leading the pack behind Jake Winnard rode 3 excellent motos to take overall fourth, battling with Ryan Garthwaite and Thomas Holgate. Holgate’s second race let him down, leaving him in overall sixth with Gartwaite in fifth overall. Next out went the Junior 65s with the local boys leading the way. Eddie Remmer looked set to win the day after taking the first two race wins, but a third place finish in the last race left the way clear for Tom Hume to take the last race win with some fantastic riding. Hume and Remmer were tied on points, so Hume took the overall top spot due to his excellent last race – it looks like Hume is showing the form in the 65s he always showed in the Autos because that was his first Junior overall win. Jake Biggs had a poor first race, but excellent riding took him into third overall. Shane Sherriff rode hard and fast all day and deserved his fourth overall finish. Jamie Osborne and Ryan Donaghy battled hard all day, riding hard to finish Osborne fifth and Donaghy sixth overall. Out next went the Small Wheels 85’s. The front runners in this class were extremely fast, but clear out front was Ben Halfpenny, with maximum points took overall first. Chasing hard in second overall with 3 second place finishes was Joe Russell. Lauren Collinwood was not far behind with third overall. Jason James and Robbie Dowson encountered each other all day, with James taking fourth overall. Dowson took fifth overall, and Andrew Flatman had an excellent last race to take overall sixth. The Big Wheels 85’s rode out next. Cole Hunter looked unstoppable out at the front taking all three race wins. Josh Hart rode excellent races to take overall second tied on points with overall third Brett Sanderson. Daniel Hall took three fourth place finishes to take overall fourth, just ahead of Simon Flaherty. Flaherty’s last race finish was enough to take him in fifth overall. Joe Anguish rode consistently well to take overall sixth. Next out the Novices Members group. Again a full line up of adults flew from the start gate. Ben Williams was undisputed leader taking all three race wins, and overall first place. Taking three second place finishes and overall second was Carl Kirkbright. Chris Trott rode an excellent last race to take overall third, just ahead of Matt Redman in fourth place. Dave Thomas was just beaten in the last race by Redman, leaving Thomas in overall fifth. Kyle Maxwell rode consistently well all day to finish in sixth overall. Best wishes go to David Easters who broke his collarbone in the second race, the only serious accident of the day. Next out the extra adult group of Non-members, put on to accommodate the many adults who turned up. Undisputed winner was Ashley Maguire who took all three race wins with ease. Second overall with excellent riding in a group with an excellent standard was Luke Crang. Third overall was taken by Wayne Locker, who was let down by the last race finish, but did just enough to keep in front of Andrew Holland in fourth overall. Tied on points, fifth and sixth battled hard, but Joe Crompton had an excellent third race to bring him into fifth overall above Nick Clare. Next out went the Youth 125’s. Out at the front by a long way were Ryan Sumner and Bradley Harrison. Sumner took the first and the third motos by a long stretch to take the overall first, but Harrison took an excellent win in the second race to take second overall. The riders behind were still racing at an superb standard. Craig Maddock took overall, in front of Matthew Colwill in overall fourth. Luke Crowther and Ashley Collins changed positions all day, with Crowther doing enough to take overall fifth with Collins in sixth. Out next another full line up of Adults in the B class. Again the top few riders were in a class of their own. Rob Hields rode three fantastic motos to take overall first, with Aaron Bruce behind him in each to take overall second. Stuart Danby rode excellently to take overall third. Darren Appleyard improved his racing in each moto, doing enough to take overall fourth. Trevor Gill and Ian Campbell also clashed all day, with Gill just having the edge over Campbell and taking fifth overall, with Campbel finishing overall sixth. Last out went the Adult Expert As. Another full adult line up with some fantastic names on the sheet, this was always going to be pure entertainment, and the riders did just that. Luke Remmer took overall first riding, as always, with flair. He didn’t have it all his own way though – only the first two race wins were his. In second overall, even with a poor last race finish, was Brad Mercer. Joint on points for third and fourth were Will Foster and Scott Beevers. Foster had the upper hand in the last two races, enough to give him third overall, with Beevers in overall fourth. Simon Clover raised his standard in each race, and his last race finish was enough to give him overall fifth. Gavin Crane had a disastrous second race and came out of the gate on the last race, and the determination to improve was clear as he took the holeshot just in front of Remmer. Crane was resolute in the last moto, and although Remmer slipped through a couple of times he couldn’t keep it, leaving Crane to take the last moto, and pull Crane into overall sixth. Another massive turnout was handled very well on the day,
and will definitely be going back to TJs MX Park – an excellent new venue.
It was also lovely to see injured Tom Jennings wandering through the
paddock recovering well, and the club gave him a card signed by all the riders
there wishing him well. Again the
club collection for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and the total raised is now £247.66.
